"Pleasing God through fasting and prayer."

You shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ Isaiah 58:9.

A couple of verses preceding this one discuss the type of fasting that God expects from us. Often, we fast and pray to fulfill our own desires and intentions. However, when we engage in spiritual disciplines with the intention of fulfilling God's purposes—such as delivering the oppressed and those living in wickedness, feeding the hungry, and providing for the needy, God hears our prayers. Today's verse offers a promise for those who obey God in this regard. What an assurance God gives to those who please God through their spiritual disciplines, such as fasting and prayer! The same thing King David said in Psalm 34:15, “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry.”

நீ கூப்பிடுவாய், கர்த்தர் மறுஉத்தரவு கொடுப்பார்; நீ சத்தமிடுவாய்: இதோ, நான் இருக்கிறேன் என்று சொல்லுவார். ஏசாயா 58:9.

இதற்கு முந்தைய ஒருசில வசனங்கள், தேவன் நம்மிடம் எதிர்பார்க்கும் உபவாசத்தைப் பற்றி விவாதிக்கிறது. அடிக்கடி, நாம் நமது சொந்த ஆசைகள் மற்றும் நோக்கங்களை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்காக உபவாசித்து ஜெபிக்கிறோம். இருப்பினும், தேவனின் நோக்கங்களை நிறைவேற்றும் நோக்கத்துடன் நாம் ஆவிக்குரிய ஒழுக்கங்களில் ஜெபிக்கும்போது—ஒடுக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் மற்றும் துன்மார்க்கத்தில் வாழ்பவர்களை விடுவிப்பது, பசியுள்ளவர்களுக்கு ஆகாரம் கொடுப்பது, தேவைப்படுபவர்களின் தேவைகளை சந்திப்பது முதலானவற்றை செய்யும்போது, தேவன் நம் ஜெபங்களைக் கேட்கிறார். இந்த விஷயத்தில் தேவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிவோருக்கு இன்றைய வசனம் ஒரு வாக்குறுதி அளிக்கிறது. அதுவுமல்லாமல் உபவாசம் மற்றும் ஜெபம் போன்ற ஆன்மீக ஒழுக்கங்களில் நடப்பவர்களுக்கு  தேவன் எவ்வளவு  அருமையான உறுதியை இந்த வசனத்தின் மூலம் அளிக்கிறார்!  இதையே தாவீது இராஜா, சங்கீதம் 34:15 -ல்,  “கர்த்தருடைய கண்கள் நீதிமான்கள்மேல் நோக்கமாயிருக்கிறது; அவருடைய செவிகள் அவர்கள் கூப்பிடுதலுக்குத் திறந்திருக்கிறது.” என்று சொல்லுகிறார்.
