"Wise son brings joy to parents' hearts."

A wise son makes a glad father, But a foolish son is the grief of his mother. Proverbs 10:1.

Proverbs is a highly parental book. This book of Proverbs was written by King Solomon, the son and successor to King David.  Solomon requested wisdom when God asked him to request for his heart's desire. The wise son is the one who orders his life according to God's commandments and ways.  He walks through life with the Word of God foremost in his mind and choices.  What is interesting here is that the Scriptures say that this son makes his father glad. The point is that parents—fathers or mothers—are blessed when their kids make wise decisions and are pained when they make foolish ones.  A wise son looks to a wise father and mother for guidance, reflecting on the lessons they have already learned, sometimes through trial and error. Proverbs 13:1 says, "A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke."

ஞானமுள்ள மகன் தகப்பனைச் சந்தோஷப்படுத்துகிறான்; மூடத்தனமுள்ளவனோ தாய்க்குச் சஞ்சலமாயிருக்கிறான். நீதிமொழிகள் 10:1.

நீதிமொழிகள் மிகவும் பெற்றோர்களுக்குரிய புத்தகம். நீதிமொழிகளின் புத்தகம், தாவீது ராஜாவின் குமாரனும், வாரிசுமான சாலொமோன் ராஜாவால் எழுதப்பட்டது. சாலொமோன் தன் இருதயத்தின் விருப்பத்தைக் கேட்கும்படி தேவன் கேட்டபோது ஞானத்தைக் கேட்டான். தேவனுடைய கட்டளைகளின்படியும் வழிகளின்படியும் தன் வாழ்க்கையை நடத்துகிறவனே ஞானமுள்ள மகன்.  அவன் தனது மனதிலும் விருப்பங்களிலும் தேவனுடைய வார்த்தைக்கு  முதலிடம்  கொடுத்து  வாழ்க்கையை நடத்துகிறான். இங்கே சுவாரஸ்யமான விஷயம் என்னவென்றால், இந்த மகன் தனது தந்தையை மகிழ்விக்கிறார் என்று வேதவசனங்கள் கூறுகின்றன. பிள்ளைகள் புத்திசாலித்தனமான முடிவுகளை எடுக்கும்போது பெற்றோர்கள்-தந்தைகள் அல்லது தாய்மார்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள், அவர்கள் முட்டாள்தனமான முடிவுகளை எடுக்கும்போது வேதனைப்படுகிறார்கள். ஞானமுள்ள ஒரு மகன், வழிநடத்துதலுக்காக தன்னுடைய அப்பாவையும் தாயையும் அவர்களுடைய அனுபவத்தை  வைத்து எதிர்நோக்குகிறான், சில சமயங்களில் செய்து பார்த்து, தவறுகளை சரி செய்வதின் மூலம் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளுகிறான். நீதிமொழிகள் 13:1 கூறுகிறது: "ஞானமுள்ள மகன் தகப்பனுடைய போதகத்தைக் கேட்கிறான்; பரியாசக்காரனோ கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலுக்குச் செவிகொடான்."
