Blog # Y2 004 - "Compassion and Purity Reflect True Faith"

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. James 1:27.

Apostle James describes “pure and genuine religion” as the kind that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless: caring for orphans and widows in their distress, and keeping oneself unpolluted by the world. He highlights three signs that prove our religion is real: it impacts our conversation, our compassion, and our character. Pure religion involves loving God and others, especially those who are alone, forgotten, or in trouble, with the right motives. It recognizes the distress in the world and moves to meet that need.  Prophet Zechariah says that not to oppress the widow or the fatherless (Zechariah 7:10). "You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child." (Exodus 22:22).  God expects us to take action in helping orphans and widows at any time. Are you showing compassion to orphans and widows and keeping yourself unpolluted by the world? Isaiah 1:17 says: "Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow."

திக்கற்ற பிள்ளைகளும் விதவைகளும் படுகிற உபத்திரவத்திலே அவர்களை விசாரிக்கிறதும், உலகத்தால் கறைபடாதபடிக்குத் தன்னைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறதுமே பிதாவாகிய தேவனுக்குமுன்பாக மாசில்லாத சுத்தமான பக்தியாயிருக்கிறது. யாக்கோபு 1:27.

அப்போஸ்தலனாகிய  யாக்கோபு "தூய மற்றும் உண்மையான பக்தியை" நம் பிதாவாகிய தேவன் தூய்மையானது மற்றும் குற்றமற்றது என்று விவரிக்கிறார்: அனாதைகளையும் விதவைகளையும் அவர்களின் துன்பத்தில் கவனித்துக்கொள்வது, உலகத்தால் மாசுபடாதபடி தன்னைக் காத்துக்கொள்வது. நமது பக்தி உண்மையானது என்பதை நிரூபிக்கும் மூன்று அறிகுறிகளை அவர் எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறார்: அது நமது உரையாடல், நமது இரக்கம் மற்றும் நமது நற்குணம் ஆகியவைகளே. தூய பக்தி என்பது தேவனையும் மற்றவர்களையும், முக்கியமாக தனிமையில் இருப்பவர்களையும், மறக்கப்பட்டவர்களையும், பிரச்சினைகளில் இருப்பவர்களையும்; சரியான நோக்கத்துடன் நேசிப்பதை உட்படுத்துகிறது. அது உலகில் உள்ள துன்பத்தை உணர்ந்து, அந்தத் தேவையை பூர்த்தி செய்ய  நகர்கிறது.  விதவைகளையும், திக்கற்ற பிள்ளைகளையும் ஒடுக்கக் கூடாது என சகரியா தீர்க்கதரிசி கூறுகிறார் (சக 7:10). "விதவையையாவது திக்கற்ற பிள்ளையையாவது ஒடுக்கவேண்டாம்." (யாத்திராகமம் 22:22). எந்த நேரத்திலும் அனாதைகளுக்கும் விதவைகளுக்கும் உதவ நாம் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று தேவன் எதிர்பார்க்கிறார். நீங்கள் அனாதைகளுக்கும் விதவைகளுக்கும் இரக்கம் காட்டுவதுடன், உலகத்தால் மாசுபடாமல் உங்களை வைத்திருக்கிறீர்களா?  ஏசாயா 1:17 கூறுகிறது: “நன்மைசெய்யப் படியுங்கள்; நியாயத்தைத் தேடுங்கள்; ஒடுக்கப்பட்டவனை ஆதரித்து, திக்கற்றப்பிள்ளையின் நியாயத்தையும், விதவையின் வழக்கையும் விசாரியுங்கள்.”
