This Psalm is the shortest chapter in the Bible. It talks about how David praises God for His merciful kindness towards us and His everlasting truth. Mercy means compassion, kindness, graciousness, and forgiveness. Our God is a God of mercy and compassion. He has forgiven all our sins and bore our sicknesses on the cross. The truth of the Lord is nothing but His Word and His Word endures forever. That's why prophet Isaiah said, "The grass withers, the flower fades, But the Word of our God stands forever." We should bless His name with David, saying, "The Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations."

சங்கீதம் 117:2
இந்த சங்கீதம் பரிசுத்த வேதாகமத்தின் மிகக் குறுகிய அதிகாரம் ஆகும். தாவீது கடவுளுக்கு நம்மீது உள்ள தயவான இரக்கத்திற்காகவும் அவருடைய நித்திய சத்தியத்திற்காகவும் எவ்வாறு புகழ்கிறார் என்பதைப் பற்றி இது பேசுகிறது. இரக்கம் என்றால் தயவு, கருணை மற்றும் மன்னிப்பதுமாகும். நம் கடவுள் தயவும், இரக்கமும் கொண்ட கடவுள். அவர் நம்முடைய எல்லா பாவங்களையும் மன்னித்து, நம்முடைய வியாதிகளை சிலுவையில் சுமந்தார். கர்த்தருடைய சத்தியம் அவருடைய வார்த்தை ஆகுமே தவிர வேறில்லை, அவருடைய வார்த்தை என்றென்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கும். அதனால்தான் ஏசாயா தீர்க்கதரிசி, "புல் உலர்ந்து, பூ உதிரும், நமது தேவனுடைய வசனமோ என்றென்றைக்கும் நிற்கும்." என்று சொன்னார். நாம் தாவீதுடன் சேர்ந்து அவருடைய நாமத்தை ஆசீர்வதித்து; "கர்த்தர் நல்லவர், அவருடைய கிருபை என்றென்றைக்கும், அவருடைய உண்மை தலைமுறை தலைமுறைக்கும் உள்ளது." என்று சொல்லூவோம்.
