Today we are trying to be good people, working hard to be good with everyone, but we often fail. The Bible tells us that there is always a struggle within us between our flesh and spirit. Flesh tries to do evil, where as the spirit tries to do good. If our spirit continuously has fellowship with Jesus, we can overcome our flesh (evil thoughts and desires) and walk in the spirit. Jesus said that, "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." When we abide in Him, we can bear fruit, such as "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" mentioned in today's verse. Abiding simply means having a constant fellowship with Him. Let us say with the Psalmist, "Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all day."

இன்று நாம் நல்லவர்களாக இருக்க முயற்சி செய்கிறோம், எல்லோருடனும் நன்றாக இருக்க கடினமாக உழைக்கிறோம், ஆனால் நாம் அடிக்கடி தோல்வியடைகிறோம். நம் மாம்சத்திற்கும் ஆவிக்கும் இடையே நமக்குள் எப்போதும் போராட்டம் இருப்பதாக பைபிள் சொல்கிறது. மாம்சம் தீமை செய்ய முயற்சிக்கிறது, அங்கு ஆவி நன்மை செய்ய முயற்சிக்கிறது. நம் ஆவி தொடர்ந்து இயேசுவோடு கூட்டுறவு கொண்டிருந்தால், நாம் நம் மாம்சத்தை (தீய எண்ணங்கள் மற்றும் ஆசைகளை) வென்று ஆவியில் நடக்க முடியும். இயேசு சொன்னார், "நானே திராட்சச்செடி, நீங்கள் கொடிகள். ஒருவன் என்னிலும் நான் அவனிலும் நிலைத்திருந்தால், அவன் மிகுந்த கனிகளைக் கொடுப்பான், என்னையல்லாமல் உங்களால் ஒன்றும் செய்யக்கூடாது." நாம் அவரில் நிலைத்திருக்கும்போது, இன்றைய வசனத்தில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ள "அன்பு, சந்தோஷம், சமாதானம், நீடியபொறுமை, தயவு, நற்குணம், விசுவாசம், சாந்தம், இச்சையடக்கம்." போன்ற பலனைக் கொடுக்க முடியும். நிலைத்திருப்பது என்பது அவருடன் நிலையான கூட்டுறவு வைத்திருப்பதைக் குறிக்கிறது. இப்போது நாம் சங்கீதக்காரனாகிய, தாவீது ராஜாவுடன் சேர்ந்து, "உமது வேதத்தில் நான் எவ்வளவு பிரியமாயிருக்கிறேன்! நாள்முழுதும் அது என் தியானம்."
என்று சொல்லூவோம்.
