"The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth"

Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5.

Jesus promised blessings to His disciples, stating that the meek are blessed. The idea behind the ancient Greek word for "blessed" is “happy,” and "meek" in the Greek literature of the period most often meant gentle or soft. To be meek means to show a willingness to submit and work under proper authority. There are two ways to be meek in our lives. The first is to be meek before God, submitting to His will and conforming to His Word. The second is to be meek before men, being strong yet also humble, gentle, patient, and long-suffering. Most believe the world is controlled by those strong and determined enough to take what they want, with the rich, the dominant, and the bold holding power. Jesus, however, flips this understanding around by declaring that the true inheritors of the earth are the meek. This statement is connected to those who have faith in Him; if we belong to the Lord, and when Jesus becomes King of the earth as the Messiah will, then all who are His, will inherit the earth with Him. Do we have the fruit of meekness in our lives? Psalm 37:11 says, "But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."

சாந்தகுணமுள்ளவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள் என்று இயேசு தம் சீடர்களுக்கு ஆசீர்வாதங்களை வாக்களித்தார். "ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்" என்பதற்கான பண்டைய கிரேக்க வார்த்தையின் பின்னணியில் உள்ள வார்த்தைகள் "மகிழ்ச்சி," மற்றும் "சாந்தம்" என்பதாகும், அந்தக் காலத்தின் கிரேக்க இலக்கியங்களில் பெரும்பாலும் கனிவாக இருப்பது  அல்லது மென்மையாக இருப்பதையும் குறிக்கும். சாந்தகுணமாக இருப்பது என்பது, சரியான அதிகாரத்தின் கீழ் பணிந்து வேலைசெய்வதற்கு விருப்பம் காட்டுவதாகும். நம் வாழ்வில் சாந்தமாக இருப்பதற்கு இரண்டு வழிகள் உள்ளன. முதலாவது, தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக தாழ்மையாக இருப்பது, அவருடைய சித்தத்திற்கு அடிபணிந்து அவருடைய வார்த்தைக்கு இணங்குவது. இரண்டாவதாக, மனிதர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழ்மையாக இருக்கவேண்டும், நமக்கு பெலன் இருக்கலாம், ஆனால் அடக்கமாகவும், சாந்தமாகவும், பொறுமையாகவும், நீடிய பொறுமையுடனும் இருக்க வேண்டும். பெரும்பாலானவர்கள், உலகம் செல்வந்தர்களால் கட்டுப்படுத்தப்படுகிறது என்று நம்புகிறார்கள்.  மேலும்  அவர்கள் தங்களுக்குத் தேவையானதை எடுக்கும் அளவுக்கு உறுதியானவர்கள் என்றும், மற்றும் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களால் உலகம் கட்டுப்படுத்தப்படுகிறது என்றும் நம்புகிறார்கள். இருப்பினும், பூமியின் உண்மையான வாரிசுகள் சாந்தகுணமுள்ளவர்கள் என்று அறிவிப்பதன் மூலம் இயேசு இவ்வாறு நம்புவதை மாற்றுகிறார். இந்த அறிக்கை அவரை விசுவாசிக்கிறவர்களுடன் இணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது; நாம் கர்த்தருக்குச் சொந்தமானவர்களாக இருந்தால், இயேசு மேசியாவின் சித்தப்படி பூமியின் ராஜாவாக வரும்பொழுது, அவருக்கு சித்தமான அனைவரும் அவருடன் பூமியைப் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்வார்கள். சாந்தத்தின் கனி நம் வாழ்வில் இருக்கிறதா? சங்கீதம் 37:11 சொல்லுகிறது, "சாந்தகுணமுள்ளவர்கள் பூமியைச் சுதந்தரித்து, மிகுந்த சமாதானத்தினால் மனமகிழ்ச்சியாயிருப்பார்கள்.”
