The  Lord  upholds all who fall,  and raises up all  who are  bowed down. Psalm 145:14 Today's verse speaks about the Lord as the Upholder and Sustainer of all who fall, and He raises up those who are oppressed. It is easy for us to put ourselves down when we hear negative things and become discouraged. However, when we pour our hearts out to God, He is there to lift us and bless us. Just like Hannah, the mother of the prophet Samuel, who was in bitterness of soul and prayed to the Lord with tears and anguish, pouring out her heart due to her barrenness. God honored her by giving her Samuel and lifting her high. Your Father   knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. Matthew 6:8 Jesus' teaching to His disciples has turned to the topic of prayer in the 'Sermon on the Mount.' He emphasizes that people of God are not meant to pray with the intent of impressing others. Instead, we can speak to God simply, humbly, and openly, and He will hear, understand, and respond. He knows our needs even before we ask Him. However, as our earthly Father, He encourages us to bring our thoughts, desires, and needs to Him. He expects us to draw closer to Him, seeking to understand His heart and His plans for our lives through communication with Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger;  but those who seek the  Lord  shall not lack any good thing. Psalm 34:10 In today's verse, King David is talking about young lions, symbolizing strength and self-reliance. Yet, even these mighty creatures may sometimes lack, whereas those who seek the Lord will never lack anything. Even the strong and the wealthy may go weak and hungry, but when we seek the Lord with all our hearts, with all our minds, and with our strength, we lack nothing. King David was a shepherd and he knew how shepherds care for their sheep. In the Psalms he compares our God to a good shepherd, ensuring that we lack nothing. Apostle Paul said to the people of Philippi,  "And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart. Jeremiah 15:16 In today's verse, the prophet Jeremiah treasured up the Word of God in his heart and it became his joy and delight. God speaks to us through the word of God. Everyday morning when we read and meditate on the word of God, God's word will abide within us, cherish us, heal us, and transform our lives. The Bible says that He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. If we believe, we will experience God's word bringing great joy through healing and deliverance. Godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Timothy 6:6 It is hard to be content in everything, but cultivating contentment is an important quality that we should strive for. In today's verse, Apostle Paul writes to Timothy about the attitude God's people should have towards money. He warns that those who aspire to become rich may fall into foolish traps, leading them into destruction. Paul emphasizes that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.  Many who want to follow God faithfully are corrupted by the deceitful nature of money. However, Paul teaches that godliness with contentment is great gain. Jeremiah 15:21 In this world, we encounter numerous challenges every day as people deal with us with different expectations. From health issues and financial problems to joblessness, barrenness, and accusations, the adversities of life attempt to ensnare and destroy us. However, in today's verse, through the prophet Jeremiah, God says that how powerful He is to deliver us from this evil world if we trust and hold on to Him. Jesus Christ is our redeemer who gave His life at the cross to deliver and save us. Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. Jeremiah 33:6 This is a great promise of healing. It speaks of God’s heart towards His people to bring healing, good health, prosperity, and protection. God wants us to trust Him to receive the abundance of peace and truth. He is our great physician who heals our hearts and gives us peace when we call upon His name. He restores our health and heals our wounds. Fear not, for I  am  with you;  Be not dismayed, for I  am  your God.  I will strengthen you,  Yes, I will help you,  I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10 In this world, we fear everything happening around us. Today's verse is a great promise of comfort with five 'I' s for each of us: 'I' am with you; 'I' am your God; 'I' will strengthen you; 'I' will help you; and 'I' will uphold you. What a great, loving, and caring God we have. God is bigger than all our problems. He wants us to trust Him, knowing that He is enough, no matter what. He is there for us in our difficult times to strengthen us. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith. Here, John, the disciple of Jesus, says that  the faith we have on Jesus Christ  is the key to overcome the world. John remembered the phrase spoken by Jesus Christ, ' Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world'   an hour before Gethsemane. This phrase made John to be an overcomer and John wanted to encourage others to be victorious by faith. So let us recollect what Paul's advice for a Christ follower, 'We should not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.' Then the  Lord  your God will ..... prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers. Deuteronomy 30:5 Today's verse is a great promise given by God for us to prosper and multiply in this new year. This promise of restoration is given to everyone who repents and turns to the Lord, following Him wholeheartedly. If we obey all His commandments, the Lord will make us prosperous and successful in all our ways. The Lord will pour out His blessings upon us in our wealth, health, lives, work, and property more than He did to our fathers. Bless the  Lord , O my soul,  and forget not all His benefits. Psalm 103:2 Here King David calls upon his soul to praise the Lord for all the blessings he has received. We can see David's heart through all the songs that he sang in the Bible. He was grateful always for what God has done for him. Similarly we should speak to our souls and get reminded of all the benefits we have received from God. When we forget what God has done to us, we murmur and blame God. Shall we tune our hearts this new year to give thanks to God always and to receive new blessings from Him? You crown the year with Your goodness,  and Your paths drip  with  abundance. Psalm 65:11 What a wonderful promise for us in this New Year! God crowns this New Year with His joy, peace, health, wealth, goodness, and mercies. Every day is a new opportunity for us as God grants us a life of abundance according to this promise. His acts of goodness include forgiveness, salvation, fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22,23) , gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8-10) , deliverance, healing, and protection. Blessed  be  the  Lord , f or He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city! Psalm 31:21 King David was often attacked and even had enemies surrounding his city to starve it. But he remained positive, thanking God for His love and wonders. Similarly, in our lives, we face challenges often. When we dwell on the problems without praying, we will miss all the blessings that God has stored for us. Instead, if we focus on God and thanking Him for His marvelous kindness, counting our blessings as David did, we see God working miracles on us. Since you were precious in My sight,  You have been honored. Isaiah 43:4 This verse is a wonderful promise. God created everyone of us beautifully in His own image to praise Him.  But many hate and curse themselves when they go through trials and tribulations. Jesus came to this world to save us from all hatred and rejection by giving His own life on the cross to make us more precious. We need to be thankful to Him as we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Let no one who  waits on You be ashamed. Psalm 25:3 In our daily lives, waiting in various situations is often challenging. We tend to expect immediate results, and when things don't happen quickly, we may experience disappointment, anger, or restlessness. However, King David reassures us that when we wait on the Lord, we will never be put to shame. This implies the need to wait patiently, trusting in the Lord's timing, and offering praises and thanksgiving. If we patiently wait on God, He will answer us and accomplish great things in our lives in His perfect time. Peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Ephesians 4:7 In this world, people are seeking real peace. Today's verse emphasizes that the real peace, that the world cannot give, is found only through Christ Jesus, who is known as the Prince of Peace. When situations become overwhelming, our hearts and minds are the first to be affected. However, the peace that God provides has the power to safeguard our hearts and minds. To receive this peace from God, one must trust in Him. When we trust in Him, as the prophet Isaiah affirms, we receives  peace, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." The people who walked in darkness h ave seen a great light. Isaiah 9:2 In today’s verse, the prophet Isaiah prophesied about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, stating that the people who walked in darkness would see a great light. This world is full of darkness everywhere, with lies from the enemy surrounding us and speaking words of deceit into our lives. We need to be careful and prayerful to overcome the negative words that we hear every day; otherwise, they will destroy us. The  Lord  has done great things for us,  And  we are glad. Psalm 126:3 It is amazing to see how life begins and ends on this earth.  But the life given is to be lived joyfully praising God for everything.  King David was so glad as he mentioned how to praise God in the previous verse of this chapter.  According to him, we must praise God with our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing the greatness of God. In today's verse, David says that we need to celebrate what God has done in our lives.  When we are in Christ Jesus, our hearts will be glad even in the midst of storms.  We will still be celebrating the victories of God in our lives.   Let us rejoice like Mary was rejoicing " For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name."   The wicked one shall no more pass through you;  He is utterly cut off. Nahum 1:15 Today’s verse says that God cares deeply for His people and will not let their oppressors suppress them. In everyday life people always criticize us and mock at us even for small things. Some of them will help us when we struggle but when we are blessed and doing good, they become envious. They try to pull us down. But the word of God says if we follow God and walk in His ways,  wicked people will never again march through us, but God will entirely wipe them out. He(God) sets on high those who are lowly,  and those who mourn are lifted to safety. Job 5:11 Today's verse says that God sets the lowly on high, and the mourners are lifted to safety. He protects the sorrowful and lifts up those who have been dishonored. Hannah, mother of prophet Samuel was brought low by people when she was a barren. But she called upon the Lord and God enabled her to give birth to Samuel. Then she praised God, " The LORD makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up."  Like Hannah, when we humble ourselves before the Lord, he will lift us high. God can comfort and protect the humble. Let us do exactly what the author of the book of James says , "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up." Hebrews 6:14 Today's verse is a promise of God to His people who follow Him faithfully. God promised Abraham that all the families of the earth would be blessed in him. Later, God reaffirmed his promise, telling Abraham his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore and his descendants will possess the gates of their enemies. Today the same God wants to bless us when we obey His voice as Abraham did.
