And Jesus said to them,  “I am the bread of life.   He who comes to Me shall never hunger". John 6:35 In the time of Jesus, many followed Him for earthly blessings, yet His teachings focused on the spiritual.  In today's verse, Jesus said that He is the bread of life and whoever comes to Him will never go hungry. Jesus is the bread that came down from Heaven, His broken body sacrificed on the cross. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, He satisfies our hearts with love, joy, peace, and eternal life. Let us remember what Jesus said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life."

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time 1Peter 5:6. In our daily lives, we struggle when we fail to wait for God's timing. In today's verse Peter, a disciple of Jesus says that if we humble ourselves under the powerful hand of God, He will lift us up in His time. Humility is required to know the timing of God. Most of the time we think that we know everything and rush into it before God's timing. We don't wait for God to lift us up. Jesus showed us how to do that. The Bible teaches that Jesus is God and yet, He came down to the earth, and humbled Himself by obeying even to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names. Let us humble ourselves as instructed by James, "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you ."

The  Lord  who made heaven and earth  bless you from Zion! Psalm 134:1 Today's verse says that the blessings of the Lord who made heaven and earth flow from Zion to all of His people wherever they are. Zion is synonymous with city of God, and it is a place that God loves. From Zion all the blessings flow to us when we lift up our eyes towards Him and praise Him. That's why David is urging us to praise such a God who is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. Let these words of David come true in our lives, “May the LORD bless you from Zion, that you may see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.”

“The smallest one will become a thousand, And the least one a mighty nation. I, the LORD, will bring it about quickly in its time.” Isaiah 60:22 Today's verse was spoken by the prophet Isaiah for the people of Israel as a blessing, expressing how the numbers will multiply and the weak nation will become strong in His time. Similarly, God has promised us blessings and multiplication in every area of our lives, but we need to wait for His timing. In the beginning, God created mankind in His own image and said, "And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth and multiply in it." If we have faith in God and wait patiently, He will do everything beautifully in its time.

For His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD  endures  forever. Praise the LORD! Psalm 117:2 This Psalm is the shortest chapter in the Bible. It talks about how David praises God for His merciful kindness towards us and His everlasting truth. Mercy means compassion, kindness, graciousness, and forgiveness. Our God is a God of mercy and compassion. He has forgiven all our sins and bore our sicknesses on the cross. The truth of the Lord is nothing but His Word and His Word endures forever.  That's why prophet Isaiah said, "The grass withers, the flower fades, But the Word of our God stands forever."   We should bless His name with David, saying, "The Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations."

In every place where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you. Exodus 20:24 God spoke these words to Moses while He was giving the Ten Commandments to the people of Israel at Mount Sinai . This verse is a promise for us today that God will come and bless us in every place where we remember and honor His name. God is there to help us whenever wherever we call upon His name. He wants us to exalt His name alone; neither other gods nor loving anything more than God. Many times we call His name when nothing else works out. We should not be like that. We should seek His face for His grace and mercies before we start doing anything. Let's repeat with David, "His name shall endure forever; His name shall continue as long as the sun. And men shall be blessed in Him; All nations shall call Him blessed."

The meek will He guide in judgment: and the meek will He teach His way. Psalm 25:9 David's heart was always closely connected to God, filled with hunger and thirst for His presence.  Often, he prayed to God to teach him and lead him in His ways. In today's verse, he says that God guides the meek in justice, and He instructs them in His way. The term 'meek' denotes gentleness, a positive character involving kind and humble interactions with others. It is challenging to be a person of gentleness and meekness, especially when provoked,  we tend to respond with words of anger. Jesus says to His people, " Take My yoke upon you   and learn from Me, for I am   gentle and   lowly in heart,   and you will find rest for your souls. " Only through Christ we can get the good qualities of meekness to receive guidance from Him. “Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” At once the woman was made well. Matthew 9:22 The story behind this verse is a miracle that happened when a woman  who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years; who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any.  She came up behind Jesus and touched the hem of His garment, and immediately her hemorrhage stopped.  But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. We learned from this real event that faith is believing on things what we do not see. God can do a miracle in our lives too when we trust on Him. As Paul says, "walk by faith not by sight."

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 In today's verse we see three characteristics that Paul wants us to have.  1. Being kind to one another,  2. Being tenderhearted and  3. Forgiving one another as God forgives us.  We can have these characteristics when we become a new creation in Christ. We cannot obtain them by our works or wisdom, but only through Christ Jesus. Paul says to the people of God in Colossae,  "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness and longsuffering."  Let's pray as Jesus taught us to pray,  "forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."

For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: Hebrews 10:36 Today's verse says that we need to be patient after doing His will until we receive the blessings.  A great example is the story of Abraham, who waited patiently to receive the blessing of baby Isaac in his old age after all that he could do to fulfill God's will.  Similarly, in our own lives, we need to wait patiently, having done His will, until His promises are fulfilled. We should not lose heart. To do the will of God, we need to deny our desires and walk patiently along with Him.  Let us say along with Paul, "Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer."

Great peace have those who love Your law,  And nothing causes them to stumble. Psalm 119:165 Those who love His law, the Word of God maintain great peace in their hearts.  Once Jesus was traveling with His disciples in a boat.  While He was asleep a great storm hit the boat.  His disciples thought that they are going to die and were screaming out of fear.  Finally they woke up Jesus. Jesus arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!”  The wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Jesus was not pleased at all as the disciples had no faith. Today, He expects us to have faith in Him to face any adverse situations without stumbling. Jesus said, 'In Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.'

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4 Paul wrote today's scripture to the people of Philippi when he was in prison. He told them to rejoice in all circumstances. We cannot be joyful always with all the pleasures that this world could offer. Also we can't rejoice because of the burdens that we carry in our hearts. We must find joy in our relationship with Jesus as He is the real joy giver. We should lay all our burdens at His feet as He bore everything for us at the cross. When we trust in the Lord knowing that He cares for us brings joy into our lives. Shall we join with the Psalmist and say, "I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High?"

Peace be within your walls,  Prosperity within your palaces. Psalm 122:7 Everyone desires peace and prosperity in themselves, their families, cities, and nations. This scripture is written about Jerusalem, means the city of peace, the House of God where God is present.  In order to obtain peace we must keep God in everything we do.  Jesus said that, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." The Bible further promises prosperity if we obediently serve Him, ensuring that our days will be filled with abundance and our years with joy. Let us speak this blessing over us: "Now may the Lord of peace Himself give us peace always in every way. The Lord be with us all."

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22, 23 Today we are trying to be good people, working hard to be good with everyone, but we often fail. The Bible tells us that there is always a struggle within us between our flesh and spirit. Flesh tries to do evil, where as  the spirit tries to do good.  If our spirit  continuously has fellowship with Jesus, we can overcome our flesh (evil thoughts and desires) and walk in the spirit. Jesus said that, "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." When we abide in Him, we can bear fruit, such as "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" mentioned in today's verse.  Abiding simply means having a constant fellowship with Him.  Let us say with the Psalmist, &

Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:14. There are many people in the world seeking peace by visiting sacred places. However, we know that Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace and the Peace Maker, sacrificed His life to give us peace in this destructive world. Today’s verse provides four key steps to attain that peace. First, turning away from wrongdoing; second, doing good deeds; third, seeking peace; and fourth, pursuing peace. When we extend kindness to those who wrong us, we not only find favor in the eyes of God but also transform into peacemakers. In His teachings on the mountain, Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." When we abide in Him and do His will, we are actively seeking His perfect peace and striving to attain it. The Psalmist affirms, "Great peace belongs to those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble."

But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Psalm 37:11 Today's verse speaks about the blessings showered upon God's children who are meek. People who are meek are often patient, gentle, humble and slow to anger. In the Bible, God describes Moses, the leader of Israel as 'very meek, above all the men who were upon the face of the earth.' We can see Jesus Christ as the ultimate example for meekness. He also taught about meekness.  We will acquire this character of meekness only when we have a relationship with Christ. The blessings of possessing meekness include inheriting the earth and enjoying peace and prosperity. Let us say to ourselves along with David, 'Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.'

The LORD  is  near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18 In everyday life, we experience the pain of brokenness and are full of regret. In today's verse, we understand that God is near to those with the heart filled with hurt, grief, guilt, shame, and He saves the crushed spirit. But the Bible says that only God can heal the broken hearts and bind up their wounds. Jesus is the great example for us; He went through the pain in the garden of Gethsemane and shed every drop of blood on the cross to save our lives from the pain of brokenness. He can understand whatever we go through. If we humble ourselves and repent to Him with a broken heart, He will heal our brokenness and fill us with the joy of salvation. As the prophet Jeremiah prayed, let us pray, "Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise."

Be glad and rejoice, For the LORD has done marvelous things! Joel 2:21 In this verse, the prophet Joel told the people of Israel to rejoice and be glad for the great things that God has done, when they returned to Him. They faced a lot of problems like drought, plagues and poor harvests as they were not following the ways of God. In the same way, if we follow the wicked ways of this world, we lose love, joy and peace. But when we walk according to the word of God, God will restore all the good things that we lost and make us glad and to rejoice.  God is expecting us to worship Him and sing praises to Him as He has done wonderful things in our lives. Shall we also sing along with the Psalmist saying,  'I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.'

Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Psalm 25:4. Today's verse is a prayer of king David for God's guidance and leading. Even though he was a great king, he often struggled to handle day-to-day challenges with his own strength. He understood that he could not do anything without God's help. He loved God with all his heart and mind. He recognized the power of God who parted the Red Sea and made a way for His people, the Israelites. Today, how do we handle different challenges regarding our health, employment uncertainty concerning the future, anxiety, fear of tomorrow and discouragement?  Instead of depending on our own strength and wisdom, just as David trusted in God, we can trust in God's guidance.  So let us pray 'Teach me Your way, O LORD, that I may walk in Your truth'.

Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. Psalm 30:4 God created everyone of us in His own image to truly praise Him with all our heart. God wants to be glorified at all times. He wants us to know and worship Him for who He was, He is and is to come. In prophet Isaiah’s great vision, he saw the Lord seated on the throne as a sovereign ruler of the universe.  Isaiah’s initial response was brokenness and he couldn't praise God.  Even Though he was a great holy prophet outwardly, but inside of him he couldn't see God as he needed more holiness. He could worship God only after surrendering his life to God. Same way today in our lives we need holiness to worship Him. To be holy, we need to be sanctified through the blood of Jesus Christ.  According to today's verse, when we become holy, with a grateful heart we can sing praises of remembering His goodness, holiness and righteousness.  As the Psalmist sang, we can 'Give unto t

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4 In today's verse, Jesus teaches us that we cannot live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from His mouth. He provided manna to the people of Israel in the wilderness when they trusted in God, ensuring their physical survival. Similarly, we must nourish our inner selves to prevent our souls from perishing. How can we achieve this? By committing to daily reading and meditating on His Word. After meditating on God's Word, we should apply it in our lives through obedience and faith. This daily practice not only nourishes our souls but also enables us to walk in His ways and have fellowship with Him, ultimately guiding us toward eternal life. As the Psalmist wisely wrote, ' Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live; and do not let me be ashamed of my hope.'

The merciful man doeth good to his own soul.  Proverbs 11:17 Today's proverb shares about a merciful man and how he can bring goodness into his own life. A merciful man not only receives mercy from God but also becomes a blessing to himself and others. Jesus, in the Beatitudes, also emphasized this principle: ' Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. ' Here, mercy means showing kindness that leads to forgiveness, often exercised by someone in authority. God's mercy shows up in a believer's life at salvation, and then God continues to show mercy in forgiveness. We receive His mercy by repenting and turning away from sin. Jesus serves as the role model for a merciful person and demonstrated His mercy at the cross for us. That's why Psalmist pleads, ' Have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. Isaiah 60:2 In our world today, filled with darkness and people struggling with fear, anxiety, depression, hatred, anger, jealousy, and selfishness, King Solomon reminds us that ' The way of the wicked is like deep darkness;  They do not know what makes them stumble ' . However, when we earnestly seek God's presence, His light will shine upon us, and we can receive His love, joy, and peace. Today's scripture assures us that the Lord will rise over us, shining His light even in tough times. We were once in darkness, but now we are the children of light. Let our hearts resonate with the Psalmist's words, ' You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light '.

The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eye. Psalm 19:8 In our lives, eyes are vital organs that allow light to enter the body. Even people with good eyesight can find themselves in darkness when they do not walk in the ways of God. Jesus said, 'The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.' We learn from today's verse that His words are pure, providing insight to our inner selves about truth and wisdom. The Psalmist declares that God's word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Only the word of God, as a guiding light, can protect us from all dangers and destructions of darkness. Therefore, we should ask God every day, 'Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.'

Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. Psalm 84:5 Every day, we need more strength to confront the challenges in our lives. Today's verse suggests that we are blessed when we seek God's strength and follow His ways. We often find ourselves drained of strength due to the words of others, family issues, health concerns, and work-related situations. However, the LORD gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. We can find this strength by maintaining a right relationship with Him, meditating on His word day and night, and walking accordingly. This not only brings us joy in this life, but His word also reminds us that 'the joy of the Lord is our strength.'
